Coalition Makes Recommendations on Dept. of Ed. Grantmaking

Earlier this week, the STEM Education Coalition responded to Secretary Betsy DeVos’s proposed priorities for the Department of Education. The Department uses these priorities to guide their competitive grantmaking. The Coalition recommended that the Department utilize an inclusive definition of STEM and prioritize high-needs populations in their grantmaking. The Coalition also urged that “STEM education should be established as an absolute, explicit, and global priority for each of the Department’s competitive grant programs” in affirmation of the Presidential Memorandum to the Secretary of Education of September 25, 2017. You can read the Coalition’s full set of recommendations here.
