Coalition Offers Recommendations to White House on STEM Policy

Today the STEM Education Coalition forwarded an extensive set of recommendations to the Obama Administration on STEM policies and programs at the Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, and across other agencies. Back in April, the White House convened a meeting with more than 50 different STEM stakeholder groups and this extensive, 7-page letter addressed to presidential science advisor Dr. John Holdren is intended as a formal response to that session’s call for more detailed feedback. Among the issues raised by the Coalition were the need for the Administration to seek and incorporate more feedback from the STEM community into its plans, build a better evidence base for effective federal STEM education programs, and engage more extensively with Congress on long-term education policy matters.
