Draft Framework for New Science Education Standards Available for Review; Next Meeting Date and Call in information

Greetings STEM Education Coalition members!

A major development for your review and consideration today:

Today (July 12, 2010) the National Research Council (NRC) Board on Science Education released a draft conceptual framework for new science education  standards http://www7.nationalacademies.org/bose/Standards_Framework_Homepage.html

The framework lays the foundation for what core science ideas, cross-cutting concepts, and scientific practices all students need to
succeed in science, and is the first major step in the development of the next generation of science standards.

Stakeholders have until August 2 to review and comment on the framework.

2. Attached ps find the  current signatories for the STEM Ed Coalition letter to Senators Rockefeller and Hutchinson of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, urging them to take action on reauthorization of the America Competes Act. This letter will close out by 9.am. tomorrow morning, July 13, so please let James and I know if your group can sign on
