STEM Ed Coalition Supports Modernizing Aviation Technician Education

On February 22nd, the STEM Education Coalition released a letter in support of the independent comments made by the Aviation Technician Education Council in response to the notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) for Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) part 147, the regulation governing the operation of FAA-certified aviation maintenance technician schools (AMTS).

In the letter, the STEM Education Coalition asks that the agency’s final rule supports a competency-based learning system that allows industry to freely meet already-mandated knowledge, skill and experience standards and expresses its full support for the recommendations made by the Aviation Technician Education Council in its independent comments.
